This table lamp is all about its base: a rounded stoneware body worked all over into crumpled, angular facets and finished in brown with a metallic sheen that catches the light along every fold. Above it sits a wide, tapering linen shade. Stoneware is fired hard and dense, which gives a base like this real heft, and the lamp weighs 1.91KG in all, so it sits firmly where you put it. It stands 49cm tall and measures 38cm across at the shade, a generous size that holds its own on a sideboard without towering over it.

We would put it on a sideboard, a hallway console, a living room side table or a roomy bedside cabinet: anywhere a lamp is meant to be looked at as well as switched on. Linen softens the light that passes through it, so this is a lamp for a cosy evening glow rather than a task light for close work.
