Description
We stock the Calipso as a fluted pendant light in matt black for close, downward light over a single spot. It is a ribbed aluminium cylinder finished in matt black, hung on a matching black cable from a ceiling rose, and it takes one GU10 bulb (sold separately) that sits recessed inside the column and throws its light down through the open base. The vertical flutes give the outside some texture, and the matt finish lets the fitting itself sit back while the pool of light does the work.
We reach for the Calipso over kitchen islands, breakfast bars, hallways and commercial spaces where you want a tight downlight rather than a broad shade. It works on its own above a small surface, or in a run of two to four units spaced along a counter or bar for even coverage. Rated IP20, it is made for dry indoor spots such as kitchens, dining areas, retail floors and office break-out zones.
The GU10 fitting makes bulb changes quick, since you can swap the lamp without taking the cylinder down. It runs at 10W on a 220-240V 50Hz supply and is not dimmable, so pair it with a standard switch rather than a dimmer. The housing is aluminium, which keeps it light, and the black cable and ceiling rose keep the fixings discreet against a dark ceiling.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take, and is one included?
It takes a single GU10 bulb, which sits recessed inside the cylinder and directs the light downwards. The bulb is sold separately, so you can choose the brightness and colour temperature you prefer.
Is it dimmable?
No. This pendant is not dimmable, so we would wire it to a standard on/off switch rather than a dimmer. If you want to vary the level, use it alongside other switched lighting in the room.
Where can I use it, and can it go in a bathroom?
It is rated IP20 for dry indoor locations such as kitchens, dining areas, hallways, retail floors and offices. It is not suitable for bathrooms or other damp or splash-prone areas.
Can I hang several in a row over an island or bar?
Yes. It works on its own over a small surface, or in a run of two to four units spaced along a counter or bar to give focused, even downlight across the length.
