Our Calen side plate is made from 100% stoneware and measures 22cm across and 3cm tall, a generous size for a side plate that sits comfortably between a bread plate and a dinner plate. Its pattern is the reason to choose it: a soft blue band around the rim breaks into fine radiating strokes, like the petals of a flower opening, and fades as it reaches the centre, so the plate looks as though light is gathering in the middle. A thin line traces the very edge and gives the outline a crisp finish. It weighs 0.526KG, which gives it a solid, settled feel on the table.
