Description

The Brent is a stoneware candle holder that takes two candles at two different heights. Its body rises from a narrow base into a soft, sculptural curve, with one candle hole set low at one end and the other higher at the far end, so the two flames sit staggered rather than side by side. A fine scatter of dark speckles across the beige surface gives it a sandy look. It is 15cm long, 11cm wide and 13cm tall, and weighs 0.53KG. That is compact enough for a desk or a narrow shelf.

We like it where a larger piece would crowd the space: a sideboard, a mantelpiece, a desk, a bedside table or the middle of a table. With two slim taper candles in place it reads as a small sculpture, and its curves still hold the eye when the candles are unlit. The beige sits easily with warm woods, stone, linen and black-painted furniture, and it works well grouped with other ceramics. It makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who likes candlelight a little out of the ordinary.

The body is 100% stoneware, a dense ceramic fired at high temperature, and the two candle holes sit directly in the body, with no metal cups or separate parts. The candles and other styling props shown are not included, so you will need two candles of your own. Slim tapers suit its proportions, and a warm tone such as caramel, ivory or soft brown picks up the speckle nicely. For the best effect, turn it at a slight angle on a sideboard so both flames show, or pair it with a plainer holder in a contrasting material.
