Description

The Boga Vertical Down is a linear pendant built from nine white blown-glass cones stacked one above the other on a matt black iron rod, each cone pointing down with its wide rim at the top and its tip at the bottom. It hangs 111cm tall, and each conical glass shade is 16.3cm across and 10.5cm tall, so the whole fitting reads as a slim column of light rather than a wide shade. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or change: 20W gives 1200 lumens of warm white 3000K light with a CRI of 90, and the 360° beam lets the glass glow all the way round.

Because it is long and narrow, it suits rooms with some height to spare: a stairwell, a double-height hall, a living room with a tall ceiling, or a dining room where a single slim drop over a sideboard feels better than a broad shade. A pair hung side by side at different heights makes a strong feature in an alcove or an open-plan space. The warm 3000K light and high CRI keep wood, fabric and skin tones looking natural. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, and it is switched on and off rather than dimmed, so it works from an ordinary light switch.

It is made from iron finished in matt black, with blown-glass shades and a textile cable 1.5m long, and the ceiling canopy is 14cm across. It runs on 220-240V mains, and as a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 5 year guarantee. We like it against a pale wall, where the black rod frames the white glass and the cones give a soft, even glow; keep the rest of the room's lighting low in the evening and let it set the mood.
