Description
The Bern is a 30W LED outdoor spike light with a cylindrical graphite-finished aluminium body housing an integrated 3000K LED. The light head tilts on a steel bracket to direct the beam onto garden beds, trees, architectural features or pathways, and the ground spike adjusts between 192mm and 267mm height to suit uneven ground or different planting depths.
Designed for garden accent lighting, driveway borders and feature highlighting, the Bern carries an IP65 rating that protects the LED and internal wiring from dust ingress and water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for exposed positions in UK weather including coastal gardens and heavy-rainfall areas. The aluminium construction resists corrosion better than steel spikes, and the graphite powder-coat finish hides soil splash and weathering better than lighter finishes.
The glass diffuser at the front of the light head spreads the 30W LED output into a controlled spot beam rather than a narrow pencil or wide wash, which suits mid-range accent work (2-4m throw distance). The 3000K colour temperature sits in the warm white range, closer to halogen than daylight, and the CRI80 rating renders plant greens and bark textures accurately under artificial light. The spike itself is a steel blade that pushes into soil, gravel or bark chip borders — it will not penetrate solid paving or concrete.
The Bern runs on AC 110-240V mains, requiring outdoor-rated armoured cable from a weatherproof junction box or outdoor transformer. The adjustable height mechanism allows the light to be re-angled and raised or lowered after initial installation without digging out the spike, which is useful for seasonal planting changes or repositioning the beam as shrubs grow.

Frequently Asked
What surfaces can the spike be installed into?
The steel blade spike pushes into soil, gravel, bark chip or grass borders. It will not penetrate solid paving, concrete or tarmac — those surfaces require a surface-mount base (not included).
What's the beam angle and throw distance?
The glass diffuser produces a controlled spot beam suitable for accent lighting at 2-4m throw distance. The light head tilts on the bracket to direct the beam onto features or upwards into tree canopies.
Is the height adjustable after installation?
Yes. The light head adjusts between 192mm and 267mm height on the spike shaft, and can be repositioned without removing the spike from the ground.
What wiring does it need?
The Bern runs on AC 110-240V mains voltage and requires outdoor-rated armoured cable from a weatherproof junction box or outdoor transformer. This is not a low-voltage 12V spike light and must be installed by a qualified electrician or competent person following UK wiring regulations.
