The Atherton is a mid-century armchair combining brown leather upholstery with a dark-stained solid mango wood frame. The chair sits on four angled legs that splay outward from the seat platform, with matching angled arms that extend forward from the backrest. The cushioned seat and back are upholstered in full-grain leather with a smooth, matte surface finish.

Designed as occasional seating rather than primary lounge furniture, the Atherton works in reading corners, bedroom sitting areas, home offices and hallway alcoves where a single accent chair is needed. The 68cm width fits into corners and beside side tables without dominating smaller rooms. The angled backrest and arms provide lateral support without wrapping around the sitter, making the chair suitable for perching and short reading sessions rather than prolonged reclining.

The mango wood frame is stained to a dark walnut tone that masks the natural grain variation of the timber, giving a consistent finish across all visible wood surfaces. The brown leather develops a patina over time as the surface oils migrate and the material compresses at contact points. Wipe the leather with a dry, soft cloth for regular dusting. For marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water and wipe gently. Do not use furniture polish, household sprays or chemical cleaners on the leather — these can strip the surface oils and alter the finish.

What assembly is required?

The Atherton typically arrives with the legs detached from the seat platform. Assembly involves attaching the four legs to the underside of the seat using the included screws and an Allen key or screwdriver. Assembly time is approximately 10-15 minutes.
