Description

The Asimi is a wide, shallow glass bowl in champagne, 38cm across and 8cm tall, and its outline is what sets it apart. The rim ripples and folds in soft, uneven waves, and rings of raised glass step inward towards the centre, much like the growth rings of a tree or the layers of an oyster shell. Darker streaks swirl through the translucent glass, and light passing through it gives the champagne surface real depth. Underneath, a small foot lifts the bowl clear of the table. At 1.7KG it feels substantial in the hands.

It is food safe, so it can earn its place at the table as well as on display. At 38cm across it is a generous serving size: a heaped fruit bowl on the kitchen island, a big salad for a summer lunch, bread rolls passed round at dinner, or grapes and crackers at a drinks party. Between meals it makes a centrepiece for a dining table, sideboard or hallway console, holding pine cones in winter or left empty so the rippled rim can catch the light.
