Description

The Arlia is a rattan lounger: a long, low chaise with a curved back rising at one end and a seat that runs away from it in one sweep. The whole frame is rattan, steamed and bent into shape by hand, the back built as a fan of ribs inside a rounded outer hoop and the base braced with diagonals. It measures 136cm from front to back, 65cm across and 89cm to the top of the back, and the seat sits 43cm from the ground.

The seat is 43cm from the ground and 104cm deep, so this is a chair to lie back in with the legs out rather than one to sit up in. It is suitable for outdoor use, on a paved terrace or beside a pool. The base runs on a bamboo runner over a stainless steel strip, which lifts the rattan clear of the ground and keeps it out of standing water. Indoors it does the same job in a conservatory or a wide window.

The lounger is rattan, with a stainless steel strip set into the base. Each one is steamed and curved by hand. The Arlia is made in this one size and this one finish. No cushion is included.
