Description

The Ariella is a small stoneware vase in the shape of a curling tail. Its rounded body is covered all over in a raised pattern of scales, and the fin sweeps up and round into a loop at one side that doubles as a handle. At 15cm long, 9.5cm wide and 12cm tall it is a compact piece, sized for a few short stems or a single cutting rather than a generous bunch. The blue glaze runs deep into the relief, so the pattern catches the light from every side, and at 0.52KG it has a pleasing weight in the hand.

Its tail and scales give it an easy seaside feel, so it sits happily wherever you keep other blue pieces: on a dining table as a small centrepiece, on a kitchen dresser shelf or along a windowsill. It works just as well on a bookshelf or desk, perched on a stack of books with a trailing stem of greenery spilling over the rim.
