Description

The Aperta is an 86mm square contactless exit button with an infrared proximity sensor behind a brushed stainless steel faceplate. The sensor triggers an exit release when a hand passes within 5-10mm of the marked zone, eliminating physical contact with the button surface. The unit provides both normally-open and normally-closed relay contacts rated at 12-28V DC and 3A, making it compatible with most commercial access control systems.

Designed for high-traffic access control installations where hygiene or frequent use is a concern — commercial office doors, hospitals, care homes, schools, retail back-of-house areas — the contactless operation reduces wear on mechanical switches and limits surface contamination from repeated hand contact. The faceplate is marked 'EXIT' and 'No Touch' to communicate the touchless operation to users unfamiliar with the system.

The Aperta requires a 12V DC power supply (not included) and fits a standard UK single-gang back box when flush-mounted, or pairs with the ESP surface-mount box (UDTASMBBS, sold separately) for surface installation on hollow walls or metal door frames. The stainless steel faceplate resists corrosion in damp environments and can be wiped clean with standard disinfectants without damaging the sensor optics.

Frequently Asked

What power supply does the Aperta need?

The button requires a 12V DC power supply (not included). Most access control systems already provide 12V DC auxiliary power that can be tapped for the exit button. The relay contacts are rated for 12-28V DC at 3A.

What's the sensor activation distance?

The infrared sensor activates when a hand passes within 5-10mm of the marked zone on the faceplate. This keeps accidental activation low while allowing reliable triggering without physical contact.

Can it be flush-mounted or does it need a surface box?

The Aperta fits a standard UK single-gang back box when flush-mounted into a wall. For surface mounting on hollow walls, metal door frames or glass panels, pair it with the ESP surface-mount box (part code UDTASMBBS, sold separately).

Does the stainless steel faceplate tolerate cleaning chemicals?

Yes. The brushed stainless steel faceplate can be wiped with standard disinfectants, alcohol wipes or multipurpose cleaners without damaging the infrared sensor optics behind the front panel.
