Description

A dining chair hand carved from solid mango wood, with a seat upholstered in natural linen. The back is a single curved rail that starts low behind the shoulders, sweeps round on both sides and finishes in short arms that stop well before the front of the seat. The frame is pale and open: round tapered legs, the back pair carrying straight up into the rail, and nothing below the seat but the rails that hold it.

The seat sits at 45cm and the chair stands 76cm to the top of the rail, 59cm across and 57cm front to back. The arms are part of the back rail rather than separate pieces and they end early, so the chair still pulls in close to a table. It will also work on its own at a desk.

The wood is mango, carved by hand, and the linen seat is stitched by hand. Mango timber is a by-product of fruit growing in India, so using it puts a second value on a tree that has finished cropping. The Anbu range runs to dining and counter chairs, dining tables, a bed, a bedside table, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe, in mango wood and in acacia.

Blot a spill straight away with a dry paper towel, go over it with a damp lint free cloth and dry it at once. Harsh chemicals and abrasive materials will damage the finish.
