Description

The Anbarasi corner is one unit of a modular outdoor seating range, built from acacia with slatted panels on two adjacent sides so that the two backs meet in the corner. The seat platform is slatted as well, and the whole unit stands on four square-section legs. It comes with a deep base cushion and two back cushions, one for each panel, in a pale natural fabric with an open, slubby weave.

It is 80cm square and 76cm high, with the seat 32cm from the floor and 72cm deep, so it sits low and deep. As a corner it turns a run of seating through ninety degrees, and the range holds a modular extension and a modular sofa to run off it. It also works on its own as a single chair, and three units will run together with a coffee table in front of them.

The frame is acacia and the cushion covers are a jute and cotton blend woven to repel water. Acacia is high in natural oil, which is what makes it weather resistant, and it varies in colour, shading and grain from one piece to the next, with knots throughout. Cracks will open along the grain after a spell outdoors, and are a property of the wood rather than a fault. The cushions are not completely weatherproof. The Anbarasi range also holds a modular sofa, a modular extension, a coffee table and a side table.

Frequently Asked

What comes with it?

One base cushion and two back cushions, one for each of the two slatted panels.

How low is the seat?

32cm from the floor, and 72cm deep.

Can it be used on its own?

Yes. It works as a single chair, or as the corner of a longer run. The Anbarasi range also holds a modular sofa, a modular extension, a coffee table and a side table.

Can it stay outside?

The frame can. Acacia is high in natural oil, which makes it weather resistant, though storing it somewhere dry over the winter will make it last longer. The cushions are not completely weatherproof, so bring them in during showers or heavy rain, and do not leave them out overnight.

Will the wood crack?

Cracks can open along the grain once the wood has been outside for a while. That is a property of acacia rather than a fault, as are the variations in colour, shading and grain, and the knots.

How should it be looked after?

A yearly wash with warm water lifts algae and pollution off the timber. Do not use abrasive or corrosive cleaning products. Spot clean the cushions only.
