The Knightsbridge 8-gang grid faceplate is a 148mm square cover plate in matt black screwless finish, designed to house eight individual grid modules in a modular switching system. The plate is made from premium-grade steel with a low-sheen matt black coating, and clips onto a separate metal sub-frame (GDS003F, sold separately) so there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed.

Designed for commercial, hospitality and high-specification residential installations where multiple switching, dimming or data functions need to be grouped on a single plate, the 8-gang configuration allows eight individual grid modules to be combined in a 2x4 or 4x2 arrangement. The modular grid system means the functions behind the plate can be customised during installation — any combination of light switches, dimmer modules, TV aerial sockets, telephone outlets, USB chargers or blank plates can be fitted to the sub-frame before the cover plate is clipped on.

The matt black finish gives a low-contrast appearance on dark walls and pairs cleanly with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors. The 3.5mm projection from the wall once fitted makes the plate sit nearly flush with the wall surface, minimising shadow lines. The 25-year warranty covers manufacturing defects and finish degradation under normal indoor use. The plate carries an IP20 rating, meaning it is suitable for dry indoor areas but not bathrooms, kitchens or outdoor locations.

What sub-frame is needed?

This faceplate requires one GDS003F sub-frame (sold separately). The sub-frame fixes to the back box and holds the individual grid modules. The screwless cover plate then clips onto the sub-frame, concealing all fixings.

What grid modules can be fitted?

The 8-gang plate accepts eight individual grid modules in any combination. Knightsbridge produces grid modules for light switches, dimmers, socket outlets, USB chargers, TV/satellite sockets, telephone outlets, data sockets and blank plates. All modules are sold separately and fit the same GDS003F sub-frame.

Can it be used in bathrooms or kitchens?

The IP20 rating means this plate is suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not rated for use in bathroom zones, outdoor locations or anywhere moisture ingress is likely.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto the sub-frame and can be removed for painting or wallpapering around the switch position, then re-clipped without disturbing the wiring or grid modules behind.
