Description

The Knightsbridge 50x50mm modular reading light is a task light designed to fit euro modular faceplate systems, providing a directed 2W LED reading light alongside switches and sockets in bedrooms, hotel rooms and study spaces. The unit comprises a white aluminium and polycarbonate 50x50mm faceplate module, a 372mm flexible gooseneck arm, and a lamp head with integrated touch dimmer control.

Designed for bedside reading positions, desk edges and hotel headboard installations, the reading light mounts flush into a 35mm minimum back box depth and sits in the same grid as standard euro modular switches and sockets. The 372mm arm length allows the lamp head to be positioned over a pillow, a desk surface, or angled towards a reading chair without needing a separate floor or table lamp. The touch control on the head unit cycles between off, full brightness, and dimmed output without needing to reach for a wall switch.

The integrated 2W LED outputs 55 lumens at 3000K warm white, providing focused task light rather than ambient room lighting. The 120-degree beam angle spreads light across a typical A4 page or tablet screen without creating a tight spotlight effect. The white finish on the faceplate module matches standard white euro modular switch ranges from Knightsbridge, allowing the reading light to sit in a multi-gang faceplate alongside sockets, USB chargers and dimmer modules. The aluminium and polycarbonate construction gives the arm enough rigidity to hold position once adjusted, while the Class II double-insulated design requires no earth connection during installation.

What euro modular systems is this compatible with?

The 50x50mm module fits Knightsbridge's euro modular faceplate range and other standard euro modular grid systems that accept 50x50mm inserts. It can be combined with switches, sockets, USB chargers and dimmer modules in multi-gang faceplates.

How does the touch dimmer work?

The touch control on the lamp head cycles through three states: off, full brightness (55 lumens), and dimmed output. Touch the control once to turn on at full brightness, touch again to dim, touch a third time to turn off.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed to accommodate the 33mm recessed depth of the module. Deeper back boxes provide more cable management space but are not required for the light itself.

Can the arm hold its position once adjusted?

Yes. The 372mm gooseneck arm is made from aluminium with enough rigidity to hold position once bent, allowing the lamp head to be angled towards a reading position and stay in place during use.
