Description
The Knightsbridge 3-pin plug-in ceiling rose is a modular ceiling mounting point for pendant lights, sensors and ceiling accessories that need to be connected or disconnected without isolating the mains circuit. The base socket mounts to a standard BESA box and provides live, earth, neutral and loop-in terminals, while the 3-pin plug section carries the same live, earth and neutral connections to the pendant or accessory.
Designed for commercial, healthcare, education and public buildings where lighting may need to be removed for maintenance, cleaning or replacement without turning off the circuit breaker, the plug-in design allows an electrician or facilities manager to disconnect a pendant by unplugging rather than unwiring terminals. The loop-in terminal on the base socket simplifies daisy-chained wiring runs where multiple ceiling points share a single feed cable.
The thermoset resin construction is moulded in white with a 54mm overall height and 45mm projection from the ceiling when the plug and socket are mated. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations including corridors, offices, classrooms and commercial kitchens. Terminal capacity is 4 x 1.5mm² or 5 x 1.0mm² cable, and the fitting supports a maximum mechanical load of 5kg — sufficient for most standard pendant light fittings but not heavy multi-arm chandeliers.

Frequently Asked
Can the pendant be unplugged while the circuit is live?
Yes. The 3-pin plug-in design allows the pendant or accessory to be disconnected from the base socket without switching off the circuit breaker, making maintenance and lamp replacement safer and faster in commercial settings.
What is the loop-in terminal used for?
The loop-in terminal on the base socket allows a second cable to be connected without the need for a separate junction box. This is useful in circuits where multiple ceiling roses are wired in series from a single feed cable.
What maximum weight can this ceiling rose support?
The maximum mechanical load is 5kg. This covers most single pendant lights and small multi-light fittings, but large chandeliers or heavy decorative pendants may exceed this limit and require a ceiling rose rated for higher loads.
Does it fit a standard BESA box?
Yes. The base socket is compatible with standard BESA box mounting, which is the typical UK commercial ceiling box format for pendant light connections.
