Description
The Knightsbridge 20AX DP key module is a grid-compatible switch marked 'EMG LTG TEST' on the face, designed for controlling emergency lighting test circuits in commercial, hospitality and industrial installations. The module carries a 20AX double-pole rating and includes a removable key, restricting operation to authorised personnel only.
Designed for use with Knightsbridge's modular grid mounting frames (sold separately), the module clips into position from the front of the frame without tools, allowing it to be added to multi-module grid plates alongside sockets, switches and other control modules. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the key is turned to the off position, providing full circuit isolation rather than single-pole switching.
The module body is moulded from white ABS with a UREA finish, giving a smooth, low-sheen surface that matches standard white electrical accessories. The steel contact mechanism inside the module is rated for 20A resistive loads at 230V, suitable for switching emergency lighting testing circuits that draw up to 4,600W. The IP20 rating makes this suitable for dry indoor environments only.
At 24.8mm wide, this is a single-module width component in the Knightsbridge grid system. Multiple modules can be combined in the same frame to create custom control panels with the exact combination of switches, sockets and controls needed for a specific installation. The 35mm minimum mounting box depth requirement is standard for most UK grid installations.

Frequently Asked
What grid frame does this fit?
This module is compatible with Knightsbridge's modular grid mounting frames, sold separately. The module is 24.8mm wide, which is a single-module width in the Knightsbridge grid system. Frames are available in 1-module, 2-module, 3-module and larger configurations.
What is the key used for?
The key restricts operation of the switch to authorised personnel. This is a common requirement for emergency lighting test circuits, where testing should only be initiated by trained staff rather than being accessible to the general public or untrained building occupants.
What is double-pole switching?
Double-pole switching isolates both the live and neutral lines when the switch is turned off, providing full circuit isolation. This is a safety requirement for certain applications including emergency lighting test circuits, where complete isolation is needed during testing.
Can this be used outdoors?
No. The IP20 rating means this module is suitable for dry indoor environments only. It has no protection against moisture ingress and should not be used in outdoor locations, bathrooms, or other damp areas.
