Description
This 16 inch drum lampshade pairs black viscose fabric on the exterior with a silver metallic lining inside, creating contrast when lit. The top and bottom edges are hand-rolled rather than machine-bound, giving a softer finish where the fabric meets the metal frame. The shade measures 410mm diameter by 300mm height and weighs 550g.
Designed to fit both table lamps and floor lamps, the shade includes a removable plastic ring adaptor that allows it to mount onto either E14 (small Edison screw) or E27 (standard Edison screw) lamp holders. This makes it compatible with most UK and European lamp bases without needing additional fittings. The drum shape distributes light evenly from top and bottom while the metallic lining reflects additional light downwards onto the surface below.
The viscose outer fabric is a smooth, low-sheen material that minimises surface texture under daylight. When the lamp is switched on, the silver lining becomes visible through the weave, warming the black exterior with a subtle metallic glow. The 410mm diameter suits medium-sized table lamps with bases 250-350mm tall, and smaller floor lamps where the shade sits 1200-1400mm from the ground.
Libra Interiors produces this drum shade in three sizes (14, 16 and 20 inch) and three colour combinations. The black and silver variant shown here pairs well with dark wood bases, polished brass stems, and contemporary ceramic or stone lamp bases in grey or white tones.

Frequently Asked
What bulb fittings does it work with?
The shade includes a removable plastic ring adaptor that fits both E14 (small Edison screw) and E27 (standard Edison screw) lamp holders. This covers most UK and European table and floor lamp bases.
What lamp base size does it suit?
The 410mm diameter works best on medium-sized table lamp bases between 250-350mm tall, and on smaller floor lamps where the shade sits at a height of 1200-1400mm from the ground. Pairing it with a base that's significantly smaller or taller than these ranges can unbalance the proportions.
How does the silver lining affect the light?
The metallic lining reflects light downwards onto the surface below the lamp, increasing the usable task light compared to a standard fabric lining. When the lamp is switched on, the silver also shows through the black viscose weave, creating a subtle warm metallic glow around the shade.
Can the shade be cleaned?
Viscose fabric attracts dust. Use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner set to low suction, or a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid water or cleaning sprays, as viscose is not water-resistant and the silver lining may tarnish if moisture gets inside.
