Description

The Zurich cushion is a woven floral jacquard on a champagne cream ground, its pattern raised into the cloth rather than printed onto it. Sprays of large blooms in deep red and old gold wind across the face on trailing stems, in the mould of a traditional English chintz. Because it is a jacquard, the design is woven from coloured yarns, so the flowers carry a subtle relief and a shift of tone as the light moves across them. The cover measures 45 x 45cm, the standard square that most cushion pads are made to fit.

This is a cushion for the more traditional room. It sits happily on a wing chair, a chesterfield or an older sofa that could use a lift, and the warm champagne and red palette works alongside dark wood, brass and richly coloured walls. Group two or three along a settee, or set a single one against a plain linen or velvet for contrast. The scale of the floral means one cushion carries a corner on its own without a crowd of others around it.

The design is reversible, so the same floral runs across both faces and you can turn the cushion over as it settles. The edges are finished with a colour-matched piped trim that holds the shape of the square, and a small zip closure runs along one side so the cover can come off the pad.
