Description

The Ulmorne is a glass wall and ceiling light with a single opal glass diffuser shaped like a drop of water that has just settled on a surface, with one soft curved hollow pressed into its rim. It takes one G9 bulb, which is not included, and the opal glass spreads that light into an even, gentle glow with no bare bulb in view. We offer it in white or silver, and each finish comes in two sizes: the 19cm, which is 19cm across and 8cm high, and the 28cm, which is 28cm across and 9.5cm high.

Because it fixes either to a ceiling or to a wall, flush to the surface, the same light works overhead in a hallway or bedroom and as a low profile wall light on a landing or beside a staircase. The 19cm size suits a small hall, a box room or a pair either side of a bed, while the 28cm size gives a little more presence in a bedroom, study or living room. It is rated IP23, so it is for dry rooms only, and it is not for outdoors. The maker states it is for indoor use only.

The diffuser is opal glass, and the fitting is made from glass and iron. The irregular, wave-like contour of the glass gives it a natural, organic water drop character. In the white finish it sits quietly against a pale ceiling, while the silver finish suits a room with chrome or steel details. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install. For styling, it pairs well with pale walls, light timber and linen, and two of the 19cm size on one wall, either side of a doorway or fireplace, make a calm, balanced pair.
