Description
ThePalm is a white chandelier with eighteen slim arms that sweep out from a fluted central stem, curve down and round, then rise to finish in a glowing tip. Each tip is an integrated LED, so there are no bulbs to buy or change. Together they give 2833 lumens of warm white light at 2700K from 34.34W, with a colour rendering index of 80 or more, so wood, fabric and skin tones look natural. The frame is iron and the light tips are acrylic, and the whole fitting is white. It measures 75cm tall and 107cm across, with an overall drop of 250cm, and carries an energy class of E.
This is a large chandelier, and it is happiest where it has room to spread: over a dining table, in the middle of a generous living room, or in a hallway or stairwell with a high ceiling. At 107cm across it suits a room with space around it. The light is fixed at full brightness, as the fitting is not dimmable, so we would pair it with lamps elsewhere in the room for quieter evenings. It is rated IP20, which means dry rooms only. The maker states it is for indoor use only. It suits anyone who likes a traditional chandelier silhouette but wants something fresher and more modern in white.
ThePalm was designed by Cristian Cubiñá, and its construction is straightforward: an iron frame carrying acrylic tips at the end of each arm, all in white, so the fitting reads as one continuous form whether it is lit or not. Against pale walls it sits quietly by day and glows by night; against a dark or coloured wall the arms stand out like a drawing in white. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install. Our styling note: keep the surroundings simple, and let those eighteen curving arms do the talking.
