Our Stone ceiling light is shaped like a river pebble: a smooth, rounded white form, softly triangular when you look up at it. It sits close to the ceiling on a small round base, and the whole diffuser glows evenly when it is switched on, with no visible frame to break the line. Inside is a 40W integrated LED giving 3250 lumens, so there is no bulb to buy or change. The light is 3000K, a warm white that feels comfortable at home, and with a CRI of 80+ colours look natural under it. The finish is a clean white.

With 3250 lumens from a single fitting, it has the output to be the main light in a living room, dining room, bedroom or study, and its close-fitting form keeps hallways and landings looking tidy. The soft, even glow suits calm, modern rooms and sits happily against concrete, plaster or painted ceilings. It is not dimmable, so it works on a standard on and off switch rather than a dimmer, and it suits anyone who wants plenty of light without a fussy fitting. It is rated IP23. UK wiring regulations set IP33 as the minimum for outdoor lighting, so if you're fitting it outdoors in the UK, check the position with your electrician first.

The Stone was designed by Josep Puig and Josep Novell, and the result is one continuous shape with nothing added. It is made from plastic, steel and stainless steel. For styling, let the shape do the work: it looks just as good set off centre as in the middle of a ceiling, and in a long room or open-plan space, two or three in a loose line give an easy, relaxed rhythm.
