The Star floor lamp is a slim, upright fitting: a white acrylic dome shade sits on a thin iron stem that rises from a conical iron base. The stem and base carry a glossy black finish, so the lamp reads as a crisp black line with a white cap at the top. It stands 126cm tall and measures 25cm across. It takes one E27 bulb, which is not included, so you choose the brightness and the warmth of the light yourself. It is not dimmable, so it will not run on a dimmer; pick the bulb for the mood you want.

We see it most at home in a living room, set beside a sofa or armchair where you want light for reading or a second light alongside the ceiling light. It works just as well in a bedroom corner, a study or a hallway with a spare bit of floor, since the base takes up little space and the stem is barely there. It comes with a UK plug, so it simply plugs into a socket and moves from room to room as you need.
