Description

This is a plain cushion made from 100% slub cotton, and the slub is the point of it. Slub yarn is spun so its thickness varies a little along its length, which gives the woven surface a gently irregular texture rather than a flat, uniform face. You can see it in the close weave: a soft, natural cloth in a warm beige that the supplier calls Natural. It is finished with an oxford border, the flat framed edge that runs a short way in from the seam all the way round, giving the front a defined outline rather than a raw stitched edge.

At 50cm square it is a full-sized cushion, the size most people reach for on a sofa or a bed rather than a small scatter cushion. Because the colour is a quiet, earthy neutral and the design is plain, it does the job of layering.
