Description

The Selmarne is a wall light with two lights in one fitting: a tapered black cotton shade for soft background light, and a slim gooseneck arm ending in a small cylindrical reading light. The shade sits on a flat rectangular backplate in a champagne finish, a warm metallic tone between pale gold and soft taupe, and it is open at the top and bottom, so light falls up the wall and down across the plate. The shade takes one E27 bulb, which is not included, so you can choose the bulb you prefer. The reading light is an integrated 3W LED at 4000K, a clear neutral white that suits reading, and it needs no bulb at all. The fitting is 28cm tall and 25cm wide.

We see it first beside a bed, one either side of a headboard, where the shade gives a calm glow for winding down and the reading light gives a direct light for a book. It suits a main bedroom, a guest room or a hotel room, and works just as well beside an armchair in a living room or in a quiet reading corner on a landing. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. The maker states it is for indoor use only.

The frame is made from steel and iron, with the champagne finish carried across the backplate and the slim housing of the reading light, while the shade is black cotton fabric that softens the bulb into an even glow.
