Description

The QTX 6.3mm to 3.5mm stereo jack adaptor converts a 6.3mm (quarter-inch) stereo jack plug to a 3.5mm (mini-jack) stereo socket, allowing professional audio equipment to connect with consumer devices that use smaller connectors. The adaptor carries stereo signals and works equally well with balanced mono connections.

Designed for connecting studio headphones, amplifiers, mixing consoles and DJ equipment to laptops, smartphones, portable recorders and consumer headphone outputs, the adaptor handles both live and studio environments. The gold-plated contacts reduce oxidation and provide reliable signal transfer between equipment formats, avoiding the need for adapter cables or replacing existing leads.

The compact metal body measures approximately 35mm in length and adds minimal extension to the connection point, making it suitable for rear-panel use on mixers and amplifiers where space is limited. The knurled grip at the plug end allows finger-tight fitting and removal without needing pliers. The socket accepts standard 3.5mm TRS plugs from headphones, patch cables and consumer audio gear.

Frequently Asked

Does this work with stereo headphones?

Yes. The adaptor carries stereo signals from a 6.3mm stereo source to a 3.5mm stereo headphone plug. Both channels pass through the TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) configuration.

Can it be used with balanced mono equipment?

Yes. The adaptor works with balanced mono signals where tip and ring carry the positive and negative legs of a balanced connection, with sleeve as ground. The same TRS wiring supports both balanced mono and unbalanced stereo.

Is it suitable for instrument cables?

Not for standard instrument cables. Guitar and bass cables typically use unbalanced mono (TS) connections, not stereo (TRS). Using this adaptor with an unbalanced mono source may result in one channel being grounded.

What's the build quality like?

The adaptor uses a metal shell with gold-plated contacts. The compact size and knurled grip make it suitable for repeated connection and disconnection in studio and live environments without thread wear.
