Description

The QTX stereo jack adaptor converts a 3.5mm stereo plug to a 6.3mm stereo socket, allowing smaller consumer devices to connect to professional audio equipment that uses the larger quarter-inch jack standard. The adaptor handles stereo signals across both channels and can also be used with balanced mono connections where both tip and ring carry signal.

Designed for studio monitors, headphone amplifiers, mixing consoles and DJ controllers, the adaptor bridges the gap between consumer headphones with 3.5mm terminations and professional gear with 6.3mm inputs. Typical uses include connecting smartphone or laptop audio to a monitor controller, pairing consumer headphones with a studio headphone amp, or linking portable devices to PA mixers and live sound desks.

The metal barrel provides strain relief at the connection point and shields the signal path from RF interference. Gold-plated contacts maintain low resistance across the connection and resist oxidation over repeated insertions. The knurled grip section allows the adaptor to be hand-tightened or removed without needing pliers, and the compact 30mm length means it can be left in place on equipment without obstructing adjacent sockets.

Does this work with balanced signals?

The adaptor passes stereo signals (tip and ring as left/right channels) and can also be used with balanced mono connections where tip and ring carry positive and negative signal phases. It does not convert unbalanced to balanced or vice versa.

Will it fit recessed sockets?

The 30mm barrel length and cylindrical profile allow the adaptor to fit most recessed panel-mount sockets, but clearance depends on the specific socket housing. Measure the recess depth if clearance is critical.

Can I leave it plugged in permanently?

Yes. The metal construction and gold-plated contacts handle permanent installation without degradation. Many users leave the adaptor in place on equipment that regularly interfaces with 3.5mm devices.
