Description

This QTX adaptor converts a 3.5mm stereo jack plug to a 6.3mm mono jack socket, summing the left and right stereo channels into a single mono output. The adaptor has a metal barrel with ribbed grip detailing and nickel-plated contacts on both the 3.5mm plug and the 6.3mm socket.

Used where audio equipment outputs a stereo signal on a 3.5mm connection but the receiving device requires a mono input on a 6.3mm jack, such as connecting a smartphone or laptop to PA systems, guitar amplifiers, or mixing desks that expect a mono input. The summing process combines both stereo channels equally, preventing loss of content that would occur if only the left or right channel were passed through.

The metal construction provides durability under regular connection and disconnection cycles, and the ribbed grip makes it easier to remove from tight sockets without pulling on cables. The adaptor is a passive component requiring no power, and introduces no signal processing beyond the summing of stereo to mono.
