Description

The QTX 20cm glass disco ball is a sphere covered in 10x10mm square mirror tiles, fitted with a metal hanging ring at the top for suspension. When illuminated by a pin spot or spotlight, the mirrored facets scatter hundreds of individual light beams across walls, ceilings and floors, creating the moving light pattern associated with dance halls and party venues.

Designed for home parties, small bars, studios and event spaces with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.5m, the 20cm diameter suits rooms up to 6m square without overwhelming the space. The ball requires a separate motorised hanger (sold separately) to rotate, and a separate pin spot or narrow-beam spotlight to illuminate it — the ball itself produces no light. The metal hanging ring accepts standard disco ball motors with compatible hooks or chains.

The sphere weighs 670g and is built around a lightweight core covered in individual mirror tiles bonded to the surface. Each tile is 10x10mm, small enough to create a dense coverage of reflections without large gaps between facets. The plain glass surface provides a neutral reflective finish that works with white light, coloured gels, or moving heads. The tiles are prone to detaching if the ball is dropped or knocked against a hard surface during handling, so care is needed during installation and storage.

Frequently Asked

Does this come with a motor or light?

No. The disco ball requires a separate motorised hanger to rotate and a separate pin spot or spotlight to illuminate it. Both are sold separately and can be found in the lighting effects section.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 20cm diameter works best in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.5m. Lower ceilings make the ball feel too large relative to the room, while higher ceilings reduce the density of the reflected beams on the floor.

How is it hung?

The metal ring at the top of the ball accepts a hook or chain from a motorised disco ball hanger. Ensure the motor is rated to carry at least 1kg to account for the 670g ball weight plus the motor's own rotating mechanism.

Can it be used outdoors?

The ball has no IP rating and the mirror tiles are bonded with adhesive that can fail in damp conditions. It is designed for indoor use only. Exposure to rain or high humidity may cause tiles to detach.
