Description
The Paros wall light pairs a white iron backplate and arm with a shade of alabaster. The shade is a rounded cylinder that curls over at the top to meet a short white arm, and its veining drifts in soft whites and greys across the stone. Behind it sits a round white backplate, so the whole fitting reads as pale and quiet on the wall. It takes one E14 bulb, the small screw cap size, and the bulb is not included, which leaves the choice of brightness and colour of light to you. It is 19cm tall and comes 20cm out from the wall, a compact size that works alone or as a matched pair.
It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. The maker states it is for indoor use only. That still leaves plenty of places for it: either side of a bed, along a hallway or landing, beside a dressing table, or over a sideboard in a living or dining room. Its compact size keeps it in proportion on a narrow stretch of wall. The white and grey palette sits comfortably with warm neutrals, soft plaster tones and natural wood, and it looks as much at home in a calm modern bedroom as in a more traditional sitting room.
The frame is iron in a white finish and the shade is alabaster, a natural stone, so the veining is part of the material rather than a printed pattern. It is Class II, meaning it is double insulated. The design is by Josep Novell and Ernest Perera. For styling, place a pair either side of a fireplace: against a pale wall the white frame almost disappears and leaves the alabaster to carry the look, while on a darker painted wall the white backplate and arm frame the stone crisply.
