Description

Our Paros floor lamp sets a slim white iron frame against a single alabaster shade. A slender stem rises from a round, flat base and turns at the top into a short curved arm, and from that arm hangs a cylinder of veined alabaster, gently narrowed at its crown. The frame is quiet and fine; the shade is solid stone, and that contrast is what makes the lamp. The alabaster carries soft pale veining through its surface, so the shade has the look of a small piece of stone held up on a thin white line. The lamp takes one E14 bulb, which is not included, so you choose the brightness and colour of light you like best.

As a plug-in lamp with a UK plug, it works from an ordinary wall socket, so it can move from room to room as you need it. It suits a reading corner beside an armchair, the end of a sofa, a bedroom or a quiet study, anywhere a lamp at the side of the room is kinder than light from the ceiling. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. The lamp is not dimmable, so set the mood with your choice of bulb and plug it into a standard socket rather than a dimmer. It will appeal to anyone who likes a calm, pared-back room with one or two good pieces of natural material in it.
