The Palmeria cushion leads with its face: a soft velvet worked all over with a quilted, embroidered palm-leaf design that catches the light differently as you move past it. The front is 100% polyester velvet, chosen for the depth of pile that gives velvet its glow, and the reverse is 100% cotton, so the side against your headboard or sofa back breathes and sits softly. It measures 60 by 60cm, a generous square that reads as a large cushion rather than a small accent.

A 60cm square earns its place at the back of a bed, where two of them stand behind sleeping pillows, or anchoring the corner of a wide sofa. The gold shows warm and tawny in the photograph, deep and slightly amber rather than bright yellow, which sits well with dark timber, deep green and other warm neutrals.
