Description

The Mercury AMD06 is a 6-way VHF/UHF distribution amplifier designed to split a single aerial signal across six output points plus one full-gain output, maintaining signal strength and picture quality across multiple TV or radio receivers. The unit accepts separate VHF (47-230MHz) and UHF (470-694MHz) inputs and provides 20dB full gain output, compensating for the signal loss that occurs when splitting coaxial cable across multiple rooms or devices.

Built for domestic and light commercial installation — multi-room homes, care facilities, small hotels, student accommodation — the AMD06 reduces snow, pixelation and intermittent signal drop-out on secondary TV points fed from a shared rooftop aerial. The integrated 5G/4G LTE filter blocks mobile network interference in the 694MHz+ band, preventing picture breakup caused by nearby phone masts. DC pass functionality allows Magic Eye remote satellite control signals to travel back through the amplifier to a Sky or Freesat box located elsewhere in the property.

The metal housing is fully screened to prevent RF leakage and external interference, and side-mounted terminals allow coaxial cables to be routed cleanly without crossing in front of the unit when wall-mounted. Surge and short-circuit protection prevents amplifier damage from lightning strikes on the aerial or accidental wiring faults. The amplifier ships with four F-type adaptors for converting between coaxial plug and socket terminations depending on the existing cabling. At 225 x 70 x 45mm and 420g, the unit mounts in a loft, understairs cupboard or communications cabinet using the integral keyhole slots on the rear panel.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between the full gain output and the six split outputs?

The full gain output provides the entire 20dB amplified signal without splitting loss, typically used for the primary TV or for feeding a secondary amplifier. The six split outputs each receive 8dB gain after the signal has been divided, which is still sufficient for most domestic TV points on cable runs up to 20-30 metres.

Does it work with both Freeview and satellite?

The AMD06 amplifies terrestrial VHF and UHF signals from a rooftop aerial — this covers Freeview TV and DAB/FM radio. It does not amplify satellite signals. The DC pass function allows Magic Eye or similar remote control signals to pass back through the amplifier to a satellite receiver located elsewhere, but the satellite signal itself must be distributed separately using a satellite-grade splitter or multiswitch.

How is the LTE filter useful?

The built-in 5G/4G LTE filter blocks mobile network frequencies above 694MHz. In areas close to phone masts, mobile signals can bleed into the UHF TV band and cause picture breakup, pixelation or complete loss of certain Freeview channels. The filter prevents this interference without affecting the wanted TV signal.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The AMD06 is designed for indoor installation in a dry location such as a loft, understairs cupboard or communications cabinet. The unit requires mains power via the supplied 1m cable and is not weatherproof.
