Description

The Mercury 65W GaN charger provides four charging ports in a 91mm square housing: two USB-C ports (one 65W PD, one 18W PD) and two USB-A ports. Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor technology replaces the silicon transistors used in older chargers, reducing heat generation and allowing the internal components to be packed more densely without thermal stress. This enables the Mercury to deliver 65W output in a smaller footprint than traditional silicon-based 65W chargers.

The charger suits laptop, phone, tablet and accessory charging at a desk, in a hotel room, or in shared household spaces where multiple devices need power from a single outlet. The primary USB-C port (C1) outputs up to 65W, enough to charge a 13-inch or 14-inch laptop at full speed. The second USB-C port (C2) provides 18W PD for phone fast-charging. When all four ports are in use simultaneously, the total output splits to C1+C2 delivering 30W PD combined, with the two USB-A ports sharing 5V 3A (15W) across both.

The charger accepts 110-240V AC input, making it suitable for international travel with appropriate plug adapters. A 1.5m figure-8 mains cable is included in the box. The housing is matt black plastic with rounded corners and port labels printed on the side face. At 182g the charger is light enough for laptop bags without adding significant weight, and the 20mm thickness allows it to sit flat on a desk or shelf without tipping.

Frequently Asked

Can it charge a laptop at full speed?

The primary USB-C port (C1) delivers up to 65W PD, which is enough to charge most 13-inch and 14-inch laptops at full speed. Larger 15-inch or 16-inch models may charge more slowly if they require more than 65W. When other ports are in use simultaneously, the C1 output drops to 30W as part of the power-sharing arrangement described in the specification table.

What happens when all four ports are used at once?

When all four ports are active, the charger splits its total output: the two USB-C ports together deliver 30W PD, and the two USB-A ports share 5V 3A (15W total) across both. This means slower charging on all ports compared to using C1 alone at 65W. For fastest laptop charging, use the C1 port on its own or with only the USB-A ports active.

Is the mains cable detachable?

Yes. The charger uses a standard figure-8 (IEC C7) mains input, so the included 1.5m cable can be replaced with a shorter or longer figure-8 cable if needed. This also makes it easier to pack for travel.

Does it work with international voltage?

The charger accepts 110-240V AC input, so it works worldwide with an appropriate plug adapter for the destination country. The included cable has a UK 3-pin plug.
