Description

The Mercury is a 12V switch mode power supply delivering up to 1000mA (12W) output through eight interchangeable DC adaptor plugs. The power supply accepts 100-240V mains input and converts it to regulated 12Vdc, making it compatible with low-power electronic devices that require different barrel plug sizes: 3.5mm jack, 2.35 x 0.75mm, 3.5 x 1.35mm, 4 x 1.7mm, 5 x 2.1mm, 5.5 x 2.1mm, 5.5 x 2.5mm, and 6.3 x 3mm.

Designed for LED strip lighting, CCTV cameras, network routers and switches, smart TV boxes, USB hubs and similar devices that draw up to 1A on a 12V line, the Mercury replaces proprietary power supplies that are often lost or damaged. The switch-mode topology reduces energy consumption compared to traditional linear power supplies, and the compact 71 x 60 x 41mm case weighs just 160g, making it suitable for installations where space behind furniture or equipment is limited.

The power supply plugs directly into a UK 3-pin socket and includes a fixed output cable terminated with a female socket that accepts any of the eight supplied adaptor plugs. Plug selection depends on the barrel size and polarity of the device being powered — refer to the device's original power supply or manual to identify the correct plug before connecting. The Mercury is manufactured to meet lower standby power consumption standards than older PSU designs, reducing wasted energy when the connected device is in standby or off.

Frequently Asked

How do I know which adaptor plug to use?

Check the barrel size and polarity marking on your device's original power supply or in the device manual. Match the outer diameter and inner pin diameter to one of the eight supplied plugs. Polarity is typically marked with a diagram showing centre-positive or centre-negative — most consumer electronics use centre-positive.

Can it power LED strip lights?

Yes, provided the LED strip draws no more than 1000mA (1A) at 12V. A typical 1-metre section of single-colour 12V LED strip draws 400-800mA depending on LED density, so the Mercury can power 1-1.5m of standard strip. For longer runs, a higher-current power supply is needed.

Is the output regulated?

Yes. The Mercury is a switch-mode power supply with regulated 12Vdc output, maintaining stable voltage even as mains input fluctuates between 100-240Vac. This protects connected devices from voltage spikes or sags.

What does the 25% lower energy claim refer to?

The Mercury uses a switch-mode topology that converts mains voltage more efficiently than older linear power supplies, reducing standby power consumption and heat generation. This results in approximately 25% lower energy use compared to equivalent linear PSUs of the same output rating.
