Description

The LYYT 12V DC indoor power supply delivers 3A maximum output through a 1.2m lead terminating in a 5.5 x 2.1mm centre-positive DC plug. The unit converts 100-240V AC mains to regulated 12V DC, making it compatible with LED tape lighting, CCTV cameras, low-voltage audio equipment and other 12V DC devices drawing up to 36W.

Designed for indoor installation only with an IP20 rating, the power supply suits residential and light commercial applications where the unit can be mounted out of reach of moisture. The in-line sealed case keeps the transformer, rectifier and voltage regulation circuitry protected from dust. The UK figure-8 mains lead supplied fits standard UK sockets and the compact 118 x 50 x 32mm case allows the unit to be tucked behind furniture or inside AV racks.

The 5.5 x 2.1mm DC barrel plug is the most common connector size for consumer 12V DC equipment, providing compatibility with most CCTV cameras, LED drivers and similar devices without needing an adapter. The centre-positive polarity is standard for this connector type. The 208g weight and self-contained design mean the power supply can be cable-tied to a surface or left free-hanging where space is tight.

Frequently Asked

What can this power supply run?

Any 12V DC device drawing up to 3A (36W total). Common uses include single-colour LED tape runs up to 3 metres, most 12V CCTV cameras, small 12V fans and low-voltage audio equipment. Check your device's current draw before connecting.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means this power supply is for indoor use only and must be kept away from moisture. For outdoor LED lighting or CCTV, you need an IP65 or IP67 rated power supply.

Will it work with LED strip lights?

Yes, provided the total wattage of the LED strip does not exceed 36W. A typical single-colour 12V LED strip draws 4.8W per metre, so this power supply can run up to 7.5 metres of strip in theory, though 3A is the hard limit on current draw.

Is the plug removable or hard-wired?

The DC output terminates in a fixed 5.5 x 2.1mm barrel plug. If your device requires bare wire connections, you can cut the plug off and strip the cable, but this may void any warranty.
