Our Lumorne chandelier is a mobile of slim arms in a polished brass finish, each ending in an opal glass globe, with the globes set at different heights and in different sizes so the light falls in layers. It comes in three versions. With 4 lights, it is 110cm across with a drop of 79cm; with 8 lights, it is 144cm across with a drop of 100cm; and with 12 lights, it is 145cm across with a drop of 120cm. Every globe takes a G9 lamp, and the lamps are not included, so you will need four, eight or twelve of them depending on the version you choose. The opal glass gives each lamp a soft, even glow.

It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. The maker states it is for indoor use only. Within those limits it suits a dining room, where the globes hang well over a long table, or a living room with generous ceiling height. The larger versions, with 8 lights and a 100cm drop or 12 lights and a 120cm drop, come into their own in double height spaces, stairwells and open plan rooms where a small pendant would look lost. Whichever version you choose, check its drop against your ceiling so the lowest globe sits comfortably above the table. It suits calm, modern rooms.

The frame is metal in a polished brass finish, its arms turning in rounded right angles and joined to a slim rod that rises to a round ceiling plate. The globes are opal glass, and the fitting is Class II. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install. For styling, hang it where it can be seen from more than one side, because the arms line up differently as you walk around the room, and let warm wood, stone or grey walls bring out the glow of the brass.
