Description

The LumiLife fire-rated outdoor downlight combines an IP65-rated white die-cast aluminium housing with a quick-connect GU10 lampholder and clear glass front lens. The fitting is rated for 30, 60 and 90-minute fire resistance and complies with Part E acoustic regulations, making it suitable for ceiling installations in soffits, covered porches, carports and outdoor canopies where fire-rated downlights are required.

Designed for recessed installation with a 72mm cut-out diameter, the fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 65W (bulb sold separately). The IP65 front rating protects the lamp and internals from water jets and dust ingress when installed correctly in covered outdoor locations. The quick-connect GU10 holder allows bulbs to be changed without removing the fitting from the ceiling, which simplifies maintenance in outdoor locations where access can be awkward.

The white powder-coated aluminium bezel sits flush with the ceiling surface once installed and provides corrosion resistance in coastal and damp environments. The die-cast construction and fire-rated intumescent backing allow the fitting to pass through insulated ceilings without creating a thermal bridge or compromising fire compartmentation. At 0.29kg the fitting is light enough to install in false ceilings and plasterboard without additional bracing.

Can this be used in uncovered outdoor locations?

The IP65 front rating protects against water jets and dust, but the fitting is designed for covered outdoor areas such as soffits, porches and carports rather than fully exposed locations with direct rainfall overhead. Zones 1-3 bathroom use is acceptable where the fitting is ceiling-mounted and not directly above a bath or shower.

What GU10 bulb should I use?

The fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 65W. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in 3000K or 4000K depending on whether warm or neutral white light is preferred. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is the fitting dimmable?

The fitting itself is rated as dimmable, but dimming performance depends on the GU10 bulb installed and the dimmer switch used. Use a dimmable LED GU10 bulb paired with an LED-compatible trailing-edge dimmer for best results.

What does fire-rated mean?

The fitting is rated for 30, 60 and 90-minute fire resistance and includes an intumescent backing that expands under heat to seal the ceiling aperture. This prevents fire and smoke spread through the ceiling void, maintaining compartmentation in multi-storey buildings where fire ratings are required by Building Regulations.
