Description

The Kalvenne is an LED pendant light built as a slim column of ribbed glass held in a black iron frame. It comes in two sizes, 25cm and 50cm. The 25cm size is 26cm tall, the 50cm size is 51cm tall, and both are 13.5cm across and hang on a 180cm drop. Each runs on an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It is rated at 16W and gives 1520 lumens at 2700K, a warm white. With a CRI of 90+, wood, fabric and skin tones look true beneath it. The fluted glass glows along the full length of the column, so the light reads as a soft, upright shape.

We like it hung beside a sofa or over a side table in a living room, where the warm light suits a quiet evening. The two sizes also work as a pair, the 50cm and 25cm sizes hung side by side at staggered heights. The slim 13.5cm width keeps either one neat over a dining table, at the bedside or in a hallway. It is dimmable by Triac, so it needs a compatible Triac dimmer on the circuit to bring it down for dinner or late reading. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The frame is iron with a black finish, and each section of the shade is ribbed glass, clear enough that the fluting catches the light whether the pendant is on or off. A black ceiling canopy and black cable carry the same finish. Because the LED is integrated, there is nothing inside to replace. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install. For styling, the black frame sits well against warm plaster, timber panelling and soft neutral fabrics, and a group hung at different heights gives more presence than one alone.
