The Hebden cushion is made from quilted 100% cotton percale, garment washed to give it a soft, lived-in handle from the day it arrives. What sets it apart is the surface: a square-grid quilting pattern stitched across the front, with the whole panel finished by an Oxford border, that flat frame of fabric running around the outside edge. In denim blue, it reads as a calm, mid-tone slate rather than a bright navy, and the garment wash keeps the colour gentle rather than flat.

This is a cushion for a bed or a made-up sofa where you are layering soft furnishings rather than one bold accent. The Oxford border and the quilted face give it enough structure to sit upright against pillows without slumping, so it works propped in front of a stack of shams or set alone on a reading chair.
