Halvessa LED Alabaster Downlight - Black

Our Halvessa LED Alabaster Downlight sets a small alabaster globe beneath a round black iron trim, so the stone sits just below the ceiling. The globe is white, with grey and warm brown veins running through it, and the whole sphere glows softly when the light is on. It is 12cm tall and 12cm across. Inside is an integrated LED of 4.5W giving 270 lumens at 2700K, a warm white, with a colour rendering index of 80 plus, so colours in the room look true enough for everyday living. Because the LED is built in, there is no bulb to buy, fit or change.

This is a ceiling downlight for dry rooms. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in living spaces such as hallways, landings, bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms. At 270 lumens the light is soft rather than bright, which makes it a good choice for ambient and accent lighting, and several fitted in a line along a hallway or landing ceiling give a calm rhythm of small glowing globes. It is not dimmable, so plan it on a standard on and off switch rather than a dimmer. The maker states it is for indoor use only.

The trim is iron in a black finish, and the globe is carved alabaster, so the soft white stone sits against a crisp dark ring. It should be installed by a qualified electrician. For styling, the black trim reads cleanly on a white or pale ceiling, and the warm stone sits happily with dark painted walls, oak, walnut, brass and linen. We particularly like a row of three over a hall console or along a corridor, where each small globe catches the eye as you walk beneath it.
