Description
The Halvessa is a large LED chandelier: a slim black iron ring, 130cm across, with twelve round alabaster globes hanging just beneath it. Each globe holds its own integrated LED, so there are no bulbs to buy or change, and the light is a warm 2700K that suits evening rooms. When lit, the alabaster glows from within and shows its soft, cloudy veining, so every globe looks a little different from its neighbour. The overall drop is 180cm, and each of the twelve LEDs is rated at 4.5W. The colour rendering is CRI 80+, which keeps skin tones and fabrics looking natural under it.
With a ring this wide, the Halvessa is made for generous spaces: a long dining table, an open-plan living room, a double-height hallway or a stairwell where a single pendant would look lost. We like it hung over a table, where the twelve globes spread their light around the whole edge rather than pooling it in one spot, which makes for easy, even light at dinner. It is dimmable on a Triac dimmer, so you will need a compatible dimmer to bring it down from bright to a low glow for later in the evening. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry rooms. The maker states it is for indoor use only.
The frame is iron in a black finish, kept thin so the eye goes to the globes rather than the metal, and the whole fitting hangs from slim wires. It is a mains fitting with an energy class of E, and it is for a qualified electrician to install. For styling, let the black ring echo other dark details in the room, such as picture frames, chair legs or a black table base, and keep the ceiling plain so the circle of glowing globes reads clearly from across the room.
