Description
The Knightsbridge GU10 tilt recessed downlight features a brushed chrome pressed-steel housing with a 25° tilt mechanism for directional lighting. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately) and connects directly to 230V mains without requiring a transformer. The tiltable inner gimbal allows light to be angled towards a focal point, wall art, or seating area rather than remaining fixed straight down.
Designed for installation in solid or plasterboard ceilings with a minimum void depth of 120mm, the downlight uses spring-clip fixings that hold the unit flush once fitted into an 80mm hole saw cut. The cable terminates via a 10A connector block with a cord grip, simplifying wiring during installation. The brushed chrome finish projects only 7mm below ceiling level once fitted, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above where a low-profile fitting is needed.
The IP20 rating limits this fitting to dry internal use — hallways, living rooms, bedrooms, home offices, and dry commercial spaces. The brushed chrome finish reduces fingerprints and smudges compared to polished chrome, and pairs with both contemporary neutral interiors and industrial-style schemes where visible metalwork is part of the design language. Dimming capability depends on the GU10 bulb fitted — most modern LED GU10s are dimmable when paired with an LED-compatible dimmer.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is needed for installation?
A minimum void depth of 120mm is required above the ceiling to accommodate the 115mm recessed body of the fitting. The cut-out diameter is 80mm, typically made with a hole saw during first fix.
Is this fitting dimmable?
Dimming depends on the GU10 bulb fitted. Most modern LED GU10 bulbs are dimmable when paired with an LED-compatible trailing-edge or phase-cut dimmer. Halogen GU10s are dimmable with standard dimmers. Check the bulb packaging before pairing with a dimmer.
How much can the light be tilted?
The inner gimbal tilts up to 25° from vertical, allowing the beam to be directed towards wall art, architectural features, or seating areas rather than remaining fixed straight down.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
No. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry internal spaces only. For bathrooms, an IP44 or IP65-rated fitting is required depending on the zone.
