Description

This F female to F female coupler joins two F-type coaxial cables inline, providing a back-to-back connection between two male F plugs. The zinc alloy barrel is threaded at both ends to accept standard F connectors, commonly used on satellite dish downleads, TV aerial extensions, cable TV installations and RF distribution systems.

Designed for extending coaxial cable runs where a single cable length is insufficient, the coupler maintains signal integrity across the join by keeping the centre conductor and shield connections continuous. The coupler can be used freestanding for temporary connections or mounted to a panel, wallplate or patch panel using the included locking nut and washer.

The threaded F-type interface provides a more secure connection than push-fit alternatives and is less prone to working loose over time, particularly on vertical runs or in environments subject to vibration. The zinc alloy construction resists corrosion in indoor installations and provides adequate shielding for domestic RF signal frequencies up to 2.4 GHz.

Frequently Asked

What cables does this coupler work with?

The coupler accepts any coaxial cable fitted with a male F connector. This includes satellite dish downleads (typically RG6 or CT100), TV aerial extensions and cable TV installations. Both ends must have F-type male connectors already fitted to the cable.

Can it be used outdoors?

The zinc alloy body is suitable for indoor use. For outdoor installations, particularly exposed locations, consider using a weatherproof junction box to house the coupler and protect the connection from moisture ingress.

How is it mounted to a panel?

The coupler includes a locking nut and washer. Drill a clearance hole sized for the barrel thread (typically 9-10mm), pass the coupler through from one side, then fit the washer and locking nut from the opposite side and tighten by hand or with a spanner.

Does it degrade signal quality?

Any inline connection introduces a small amount of signal loss, typically 0.1-0.3 dB at satellite and terrestrial TV frequencies. For most domestic installations this is negligible and will not affect picture quality, but avoid using multiple couplers in series on long cable runs where cumulative loss becomes significant.
