Description
The Boteh cushion is a printed cotton velvet cushion in a rectangular 40 x 60cm shape, patterned with a dense paisley design in two tones of blue. The lighter, mid-blue ground carries a curling, feathered motif in deep navy, so the print reads as busy and rich from a distance and resolves into individual paisley teardrops up close. The velvet pile gives the surface a soft, slightly shifting quality, catching the light differently as you move around it. It is made from 100% cotton, both the printed face and the reverse, which is a double-sided design so either side can face outwards.
The oblong shape makes this a bolster-style lumbar cushion rather than a square, so it sits well at the small of the back on a sofa or armchair, or propped against the pillows on a bed. The blue-on-blue palette is easy to place against neutral upholstery, pale walls and natural wood, and it works alongside other patterned cushions without competing, since the whole design stays within one colour family. Use it as the calmer note in a mixed group, or pair two together on a wider sofa for balance.
The cushion has a knife edge, meaning the seams meet flat at the corners with no piping or flange, which keeps the outline clean and lets the print run right to the edge. A zip closure lets you remove the cover, and cotton velvet responds well to gentle handling. The velvet pile is best smoothed by hand to keep it sitting evenly. This is one of several Boteh pieces we carry, so you can build a coordinated look across the range if you want more of the same block-print character.

Frequently Asked
Is this cushion the same on both sides?
Yes, it has a double-sided design, so the printed paisley pattern appears on both the front and the reverse of the cover.
What is the cushion made from?
It is made from 100% cotton, including the velvet pile, which gives a soft surface with the natural breathability and durability cotton is known for.
Can I take the cover off?
Yes, there is a zip closure along one edge, so you can remove the cover when you need to and put it back easily afterwards.
What size is this cushion and where does it suit?
It measures 40 x 60cm, an oblong lumbar shape that works propped against a sofa back or set among bed pillows for support.
What does a knife edge mean?
