Description

The Bell is a small rechargeable table lamp in wood and metal, made to put a pool of warm light on a table indoors or out. A half-round wooden base with a slim metal ring at its foot carries a domed, brass-coloured shade on three fine metal rods, and the light falls from under the shade across the wood. It has an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It gives warm white light at 150 lumens from 1.3W, with a CRI of 90+, so food, drinks and faces look true to colour. At 12cm tall and 13cm across, it sits easily among glasses and plates.

As it runs on a battery, there is no cable to trail, so it goes wherever there is a table: a dining table at home, a balcony, a garden table or a restaurant table laid for dinner. It is rated IP45, so it is suited to outdoor use. The maker states it is optimal for under-roof outdoor use. We think a covered terrace, veranda or pergola is its natural home. It also suits cafes, bars and hotels wanting soft light on every table without wiring.

Inside is a lithium polymer battery that gives about 8 hours of light and takes 5 hours to charge. It comes without a charger or USB cable, which are sold separately: the Single USB Lamp Charger with 1.5m Cable charges one lamp, and the 8 Port USB Lamp Charger with 1.5m Cables charges up to eight at once. A touch dimmer is built in, so you can bring the light down for a quieter mood without a separate dimmer. The design is by Cristian Cubiñá. The natural wood grain and brass-coloured metal sit well with rattan, linen and weathered timber, and we like two or three set down a long table for an even, gentle glow.
