Description

The Aviary cushion is made from 100% cotton velvet, printed on both sides with birds nesting amongst garden foliage. It measures 50 x 50cm, the standard square that most sofa and armchair scatter cushions are cut to, so it slots straight into an existing arrangement without leaving one odd size out. The ground is a warm gold, worked over with peonies, daisies and small perching and hovering birds in pink, green, teal and soft yellow. Cotton velvet gives a short, dense pile that catches the light differently as you move past it, which is why a printed velvet reads richer than the same design on a flat cotton.

A 50 x 50cm square is the workhorse of cushion sizes. It sits well at the back of a sofa with smaller cushions layered in front, holds its own singly on an armchair, or pairs up at either end of a bed. The busy, colourful print does the talking, so it suits a plainer sofa in a neutral or a deeper tone rather than competing with another strong pattern.
