Description

The AV:Link HDMI adaptor connects a standard HDMI cable to devices with HDMI micro ports, providing a full-size Type-A HDMI socket on one end and a Type-D micro HDMI plug on the other. Both ends carry gold-plated contacts to maintain signal integrity across the short 40mm length of the adaptor body.

Designed for Raspberry Pi single-board computers, compact cameras, camcorders and tablets that ship with micro HDMI outputs, this adaptor removes the need to carry a dedicated micro HDMI cable. It allows any existing standard HDMI cable to be used with micro-equipped devices, making it practical for temporary connections, testing setups and environments where multiple HDMI cables are already in use.

The compact 40mm body fits directly into the micro HDMI port without additional cable or strain relief, so it works best in situations where the connected HDMI cable is supported separately or where the device is stationary. The 8.5g weight means the adaptor adds minimal load to the micro port itself, though care should still be taken not to use the adaptor as a lever against the port when inserting or removing cables.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between HDMI micro and HDMI mini?

HDMI micro (Type-D) is smaller than HDMI mini (Type-C). This adaptor is specifically for micro HDMI ports, which are commonly found on Raspberry Pi 4, action cameras and some tablets. It will not fit HDMI mini ports.

Does it support 4K video?

The adaptor itself is a passive connector and does not alter the signal. It will pass whatever resolution the source device and cable support, including 4K where both are capable. However, signal quality depends on the total cable length and quality once the adaptor is in place.

Can it be left permanently connected?

Yes, though the micro HDMI plug is not designed for frequent insertion and removal. If the device will be connected and disconnected regularly, consider using a short micro HDMI cable instead to reduce wear on the device's port.

Does it require drivers or software?

No. The adaptor is a passive connector with no active components. It works immediately when inserted, with no configuration needed on the source device or display.
