Description

The AV:Link coaxial Y splitter takes one incoming aerial signal and splits it to two output sockets, allowing a single TV aerial or FM radio antenna to feed two separate devices. The splitter has one male coaxial plug on the input side and two female coaxial sockets on the output side, both using standard RF connectors compatible with UK aerial cable.

Designed for domestic TV and radio installations where one aerial feed needs to supply two rooms or two devices in the same room, the Y splitter provides passive signal distribution without requiring external power. The splitter works with both digital Freeview TV signals and analogue FM radio signals, though splitting the signal between two devices will reduce the signal strength to each output compared to a direct connection.

The metal-bodied construction and threaded F-type connectors provide a more secure connection than push-fit alternatives, reducing the risk of loose contacts that cause picture breakup or radio interference. The compact hexagonal body measures approximately 40mm across the widest point, with the three connector ports arranged at 120-degree intervals to minimise strain on connected cables.

Frequently Asked

Does splitting the signal reduce quality?

Yes. Each output receives approximately half the signal strength of the input. In areas with strong aerial signals this is rarely noticeable, but in weak-signal areas it may cause picture breakup on digital TV or poor reception on FM radio. If signal loss is a problem, consider an active aerial amplifier instead of a passive splitter.

Can it be used outdoors?

The splitter is not weatherproof and is intended for indoor use only. For outdoor signal splitting, use a weatherproof junction box or an external aerial amplifier rated for outdoor installation.

Is it compatible with satellite signals?

No. This splitter is designed for terrestrial TV aerial and FM radio signals only. Satellite signals require a different type of splitter that can pass DC voltage to the LNB.

Can more than two devices be connected?

Not directly. For distribution to three or more devices, use a dedicated multi-way aerial splitter or distribution amplifier designed for that purpose.
