Description

The Marran is a 30cm diameter crystal pendant light built around a satin nickel frame shaped into two tiered spheres, one bulbous lower chamber and a smaller upper cap. Three BC (B22 bayonet) bulbs sit inside the lower chamber, surrounded by rows of faceted crystal beads strung tightly onto the metal framework. The total drop is 48cm from ceiling rose to bottom finial.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and stairwells where ceiling heights allow the full drop to be visible, the Marran provides both direct light from the three exposed bulbs and refracted light from the crystal beads. The satin nickel finish on the metalwork reads as a soft pewter-grey under most lighting conditions, contrasting with the clear crystal without the high polish of chrome or the warmth of brass. The 30cm width suits dining tables up to 1.6m long or centred positions in hallways up to 2.5m wide.

Each crystal bead is individually cut with multiple facets, so when the bulbs are lit the light refracts in scattered patterns across adjacent walls and ceilings. The weight of the fitting is 3kg, requiring a ceiling rose and hook rated to support at least 5kg for safe installation. The two-tier profile gives the pendant a Moroccan-lantern silhouette without the enclosure of a solid metal cage, so the bulbs remain visible when switched on.

What bulb does it take?

The Marran takes three BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED BC bulbs between 6-8W and 2700K-3000K to balance the cool tone of the satin nickel with warm light output.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs you fit. If using dimmable LED bulbs, pair with a trailing-edge LED-compatible dimmer switch. The crystal beads and metal frame have no electrical components that would prevent dimming.

What ceiling height is needed?

With a 48cm total drop, the Marran works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Over a dining table the bottom of the pendant typically sits 70-80cm above the table surface, which requires a ceiling height of at least 2.5m to avoid the fitting feeling too low.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off the power and allow the bulbs to cool fully. Wipe each crystal bead gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the string threads and do not use chemical sprays or polishes.
